[Remarks by Director]
November is a moment where the end and the beginning of life’s momentum intertwine. The resonance of Flow still lingers in the air, yet our bodies have set off once again. This is the pulse of the company: the stage moves like the tide—receding, only to surge back with deeper force. And we, in the space between waves, learn to find each point of breath, to reorganize, and to begin anew.
At the start of the month, I was invited to speak at the youth career talk “Be Dance, Be Chance”, where I shared with the younger generation the path I have carved with my body. We spoke of building dreams, making choices, and how to keep moving forward with our bodies, even in long corridors where no light seems to exist. Standing at the podium, I suddenly realized—our detours, the nights we endured, were never about proving our ability. They were about becoming a moving beam of light that, at some unknown point in the future, can illuminate and inspire others. Allowing the language of the body to resonate beyond the stage is, at this moment, my deepest sense of gratitude.
Then, Flow met the world for the first time. Four seasonal chapters unfolded like the pulse of life, from Awakening of Insects to Major Snow; bodies carried memories, weaving and shifting through space. Emotions from the audience surged like tides, co-creating a shared, fluid experience. Some cried, some remained silent. Some said it felt like a mirror—our moving bodies reflecting the “comings” and “goings” within their own lives. Through these echoes, the work truly came alive, gaining the weight and presence of a breathing entity.
Next, we will embark on this year’s final journey—the 2025 B.DANCE Winter Europe Tour, a month-long winter migration across multiple theaters and countries. We will bring ALICE and CRACK into spaces both foreign and familiar, letting the body’s grammar breathe and grow within different cultural contexts. Every tour is a renewed inquiry into our existence—a rediscovery of the works themselves, a recalibration of the dancers’ bodies and spirits, and a deeper questioning of why we dance.
People sometimes ask, “Isn’t it exhausting?”
Of course—the body tires.
But it is precisely because of this weight that every moment standing under the beam of light feels so real, so substantial. We know that each second of illumination is forged through countless trials, shaping something truly singular.
November is a month of powerful energy. Not hurried, but a convergence of inner flow and outer timing—a force that becomes irresistible. To let the body move with it is to honor this vitality. We leap into the depth of winter carrying a burning core; as our bodies move through city after city, our gaze remains fixed on the distant, unknowable call ahead.
To everyone who resonates with us—thank you. Your presence is the source that enables us to keep creating and expanding our boundaries.
The next newsletter will be written from a European backstage. When that moment comes, I hope we are all still navigating our own routes of exploration—trusting the language of the body, walking with conviction, and discovering new forms and meanings through constant movement.
